You will be helping to achieve many significant things:

You will be supporting LNCD in their endeavours to improve the lives of our Best Friends by lobbying at Local Government & Council level.

You will be joining the “Dog’s Voice” along with organizations such as RSPCA GuideDogs Australia, & Animal Welfare League, all of whom LNCD liaise with for our Dog Retrieval Program. We are currently working closely with “Paws & Claws” Magazine & Gold Coast & Logan City Councils & will spread our endeavours far & wide with our Club Expansion.

You will be Contributing to a Responsible Dog Training & Socialising Program to bring Dogs into the Community. (isolation is their enemy)

We will be lobbying for MORE ENCLOSED AGILITY PLAYGROUNDS FOR DOGS

OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS DOGGIE CAFÉ’S – WHY ARE THEY “UNHEALTHY” IN QUEENSLAND & NOT IN VICTORIA OR NEW SOUTH WALES? (or Paris, New York?)

WHY should QUEENSLAND DOGS be tied up 10 metres from Outside Dining Tables  When in Melbourne & Sydney you can tie your dog up to your own chair & maintain Control over the dog. (If its 10 metres away & a small child frightens the dog or hits it, you have no ability to control it & you and your dog will be blamed)!

Could we please have some more accessible leash free BEACH AREAS?

Can we adopt a system whereby RESPONSIBLE Owners are rewarded with Council issued (& paid for ofcourse! – think of the revenue!) “CANINE GOOD CITIZEN” Collar Medallions showing a level of Training & Compatability to human life undertaken by the Owner & Dog enabling the Dog to go anywhere with us? GASP! Maybe even on Public Transport & visiting the sick & the elderly in hospitals or nursing homes……. If it means a most treasured dog can accompany you on weekend outings & they can sit at Outdoor Café’s without disturbing other diners, if they can go to the beach with their family & sit quietly, if they can travel to picnic spots with you without asking for food from other people, then from our “CANINE GOOD CITIZEN” medal the Council will actually MAKE MONEY OUT OF KEEPING PEOPLE HAPPY INSTEAD OF THE FINES & LIMITATIONS THEY IMPOSE AT THE MOMENT. THIS MAKES PEOPLE MISERABLE and results in dogs being left alone in backyards & apartments, becoming neurotic & often aggressive through lack of socialization!
Your support is vital to achieve these and many other changes that are long overdue…. People do not die any earlier in Paris or New York or Sydney or Melbourne when Dogs are allowed to live, eat & socialise alongside their much adored Owners. Dogs should not be ostracized out of the community (& if the some councils had their way, out of sight altogether) especially in precincts designated as “Tourist Zones” or HIGH DENSITY LIVING AREAS.
 We need to tell them that is the WRONG WAY – GO BACK!”
Lonely, Frustrated, Miserable & Unhealthy people come from living WITHOUT the softening and heartwarming unconditional love they get from being with their animals.

 The North Sydney Council was attempting to get dogs banned from parks even when under the Owners control and on a leash. This high density living area was being de-humanised by not allowing people who lived in HIGHRISE buildings, the right to have their beloved animal with them when they watched the Cricket in the park on Saturday afternoon, or strolled down to the local café for a coffee on Sunday morning, or did the responsible thing and exercised their dog every night making it a social outing for themselves as well! People exercise more, are healthier & happier when they take on the responsibility of a DOG. Think how many $$$$$’s this saves the government in medical fees. ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR KEEPING ELDERLY PEOPLE MOBILE & FOR SOCIALISING THEIR PETS.The benefits of the dog as “man’s best friend” CANNOT be measured.A PETITION WITH THOUSANDS OF SIGNATURES SHOWED THE COUNCIL THE VOTING POWER OF ANIMAL LOVERS THROUGHOUT THAT GOVERNMENT WARD
AND INSTEAD OF BANNING DOGS, THE COUNCIL MADE PROVISION FOR A LEASH FREE AREA IN EVERY PARK.
Outdoor dining is permitted with your dog on a leash, at restaurants in this dense inner urban/tourist area - almost without exception!
IMAGINE LIVING WITH NO THREATS OF FINES OR HAVING TO TIE YOUR DOG UP OUT OF YOUR SIGHT! NELSON LIVED IN THIS PRECINCT AND WENT INTO EVERY MAJOR BANK WITH ME, OFF THE LEAD, SITTING QUIETLY INSIDE THE DOOR, WAITING PATIENTLY WHILE I STOOD IN THE QUEUE, NEVER TAKING HIS EYES OF ME – POLITE TO EVERYONE ELSE BUT “WHERE’S MY MUM”? AND THE BANKS ALLOWED IT! – THE SECURITY GUARDS GREETED HIM “Good afternoon Nelson” and occasionally he was greeted with "Good afternoon M'Lord"!!

Nearly all DOGLOVERS complain about the lack of facilities & the few places we can go with our dogs, yet in Sydney, Nelson went to Boat Shows & Rock Concerts in Darling Harbour, SAT AT OUR TABLE for Yum Cha Lunch in the city, (being a Lab, this was his favourite) and strolled Circular Key on a Saturday afternoon sitting at our outdoor table & had Cappaccino (froth no caffeine or chocolate) off his plastic spoon…At Watson’s Bay Hotel (prime tourist area) he sat quietly for 2 hours under the table with the full support & knowledge of the Staff – they even brought him a drink.

We were walked off Southbank, Brisbane by security forces even with our ‘guidedog-standard’ trained labrador on a lead! - “NO DOGS ALLOWED”

We were restrained by security from allowing him to get a drink from a takeaway bowl of water in Queen Street mall, Brisbane! - “NO DOGS ALLOWED”
COME ON QUEENSLAND, lets lobby to get in line with Paris, Rome, New York, Melbourne & Sydney & join the most enlightened cities in the world!
Lets look at ACCREDITATION FOR “GOOD CANINE CITIZENS” & Responsible Ownership

The Port Melbourne City Council fought State Legislation under the Anti Discrimination Law & now has the right to have ANY SIZE DOG in a HIGHRISE building subject to there not being a majority of complaints from Owners via the Body Corporate, in which case the Dog has 30 days to remedy its (or the Owners) behaviour to become a “Good Canine Citizen” (In the case of failure a dog can be removed from the Premises.)
